METiS Won the First Prize out of the Manufacturing Project Team of the Third Shijingshan District Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition

On May 30, 2022, the final of the fifth "ZGCY " entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition in Beijing, aka the fifth "Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition in Beijing" and the third Shijingshan District Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition successfully rang down the curtain with a virtual broadcast. The competition program is guided by the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. Thanks to Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, District Development and Reform Committee, District of Science and Technology Committee, Zhongguancun Science Hub, District Economic and Information Bureau, District Investment Promotion and Investment Attraction Center, Ex-serviceman Affairs, District Business Bureau, the Youth League Committee, District Women's Federation, District Disabled Persons' Federation and the organizing departments of District Labor Service Management Center, and Entrepreneurship Community.

With the theme of "Creating a New Era, Reaching the Chinese Dream", the competition has attracted wide attention from the entrepreneurial and innovation community since its launch in early April. 117 projects have been registered throughout the city, and 106 projects have been qualified in the preliminary competition, covering the fields of new generation information technology, intelligent manufacturing, medical and health care, artificial intelligence and so on. The participants are mainly college graduates or students, retired military personnel, oversea returnees, scientific research or management personnel of enterprises and public institutions.

By virtual experts review in preliminary competition, five experts evaluated on the overall projects on four aspects, including innovativeness, employment driving, project team, and prospects. For youth innovation team competition, four evaluation aspects are innovativeness, expected employment-driving opportunities, project team, and prospects. The competition finally filtered the manufacturing project team, the service project team, and youth innovative competition divvyed up in three fields, each field from 8 projects, with a total of 24 projects successfully qualified for the final. In the final, one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes and two excellent prizes will be awarded for each field.

Dr. Andong Liu, VP of METiS Pharmaceutical, participated in the competition on behalf of the company. In the final, 24 high-quality projects were filtered through fierce competition, and finally his "AI-driven Drug Delivery Development" project won the first prize out of the manufacturing project team.

about  Dr. Andong Liu

Dr. Andong Liu is the Vice President of Technology & Innovation. He is at the helm of the research and development of the platform technology of METiS Pharmaceutical. By combining the nucleic acid drug delivery system with high-throughput screening and machine learning, Dr. Andong led the company to quickly break through the bottleneck of nucleic acid-based drug delivery technology.

Dr. Andong Liu holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and his joint postal doctoral research completed in MIT at Harvard Medical School (HMS). He studied under Professor Robert Langer, a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the father of drug delivery, who was granted 4 patents in the United States. Prior to joining the company, he worked in R&D department at ‘Novartis’ and ‘Biogen’ in the US.
